In 2009-10 almost 75,000 learners registered for an ILM qualification. Is this programme for you?The Programme is designed for Senior Managers or business owners within any Industry. The programme will enable suitable candidates to assess knowledge and understanding of key activities relating to a manager’s role, as well as facilitating the development of skills to improve personal effectiveness. It is specifically designed for those who have some involvement in the business planning process and have a role to play in understanding business performance in terms of finance, quality and service.Programme details The Award in Management is a concise qualification aimed at developing basic middle/senior management skills and knowledge. The mandatory unit, ‘Understanding the management role’, examines organisational structure and function, the roles and responsibilities of middle/senior managers and the effect of communication and interpersonal skills on managerial performance. The Diploma in Management builds and broadens on the areas covered in the Award. Here, ‘managing improvement’ is explored, both in terms of organisational and personal improvement. ‘Developing the reflective Manager’ concentrates on the analysis of personal strengths and weakness and how to work through problems using creative techniques. The crucial skill of ‘making a financial case’ is also explored. All participants are able to choose from a range of optional units to build their qualification; this high level of flexibility allows individuals or their employers to custom build a qualification that focuses on the key areas most relevant to their role, industry or organisation The full programme consists of an induction and 10 modules, plus tutorial support. Each module has been specially selected to optimise the benefits and returns to the employer and the individuals who undertake the programme.
